Fish, duck and rabbit are cooling foods and will be more comfortable for your dog during summer, especially if they have allergies. Avoid venison and lamb during the hot months, these proteins are heating foods and will make allergies worse.

Cooling Foods, continued
Fruit and veggies that can help your canine friends stay cool and hydrated are:
- Watermelon
- Cucumber
- Beet roots (cooked)
- Broccoli (cooked)
- Blueberries
Also, consider adding ice cubes to your dog's water or giving ice cubes as a treat. Let your dog calm down after exercise, before feeding ice cold foods, to avoid stomach upset.
